Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is often referred to as “O.T”. It’s designed to enable people with limitations or impairments to participate in the activities of every day life. At the Masonic Care Community our team works to evaluate and treat individuals whose ability to function may have been limited or diminished through normal aging, illness, acute injury, elective surgery or developmental disability. Treatment goals in O.T. include functional independence, prevention of disability and maintenance of wellness.
Therapeutic activities in O.T. are designed to help you adapt to your social and physical environment and functional abilities through the mastery of essential living tasks.
O.T services include:
Education and training in daily living skills such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
Therapeutic adaptations, such as assistive equipment and physical environment design.
Sensorimotor treatment in strengthening, endurance, range of motion, coordination, balance and functional mobility.
Therapeutic activity for memory, orientation and cognitive integration.
Prevention and health promotion through energy conservation, body mechanics and joint protection/preservation.
Compensation for sensory loss.
