Alzheimers

The most prevalent of the progressive dementias is Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).

People with AD or related dementias may live for many years. Although the progression of the disease cannot be halted or reversed, staff at the Masonic Care Community can manage symptoms in an effort to improve the quality of life for residents and their loved ones.

The care team seeks to understand each individual, as it is the interplay of functional changes caused by dementia, the resident’s usual habits and traits, and their distinct responses to stressors that make each resident unique. At the Masonic Care Community, the care team addresses four major areas for possible interventions in order to manage the symptoms experienced by the resident. These areas are: options for medical interventions, manipulation of the physical environment, manipulation of the social environment, and influencing the relationship between resident and caregiver through care planning and education.

We believe that we provide each resident with a safe, comfortable environment that enhances their dignity and maintains their uniqueness.
