Wall of Remembrance
The centerpiece of the Masonic Care Community Campus is our Great Lawn which has been recognized on both the state and national level for its’ unique design. The Great Lawn has water features on the east and west ends, as well as a beautiful fountain that boarders it on the south. These attractive amenities assist in welcoming residents, families and visitors to our beautiful campus.
This space has a great history, and as the campus changed over the years it has also gone through significant renovations. An early photo of the lawn, as seen by the statue of Lt. Orville Parker Johnson, shows the lawn much as it appears today, as an open space to enjoy. At another time in our history, the lawn was the main driveway to enter our campus, with the former Administration Building visible in the background. At yet another time, the lawn was filled with a variety of trees. Four years ago, the trees, many of which had become diseased, were removed and the Great Lawn was created.
When you visit your Masonic Care Community, we urge you to take a walk around the oval sidewalk of the great lawn. In addition to the lovely view of the campus, the various water fountains and ponds, and magnificent flowers, you should also stop to read our Wall of Remembrance. There are more than 270 names and memorials some recreated from plagues that were originally placed on trees that had to be removed. This wall is visible at all times, as it has special lighting on those commemorative bricks. It’s a permanent memorial to all who have made a contribution to this wonderful campus, and we invite all Masons to take some time to see it.
If you are interested in remembering a loved one, your lodge or a brother on the Wall of Remembrance, there are still bricks available. Contact Brother Ira Cooperman at (315)-798-4703 for details. Purchasing a brick in remembrance is way to show your support of the Masonic Care Community and join all of those, who have been part of our 116 year history.
