Masonic Child Care Is Dedicated to Education
One facet of the dedication is to help educate future childhood professionals through internships and volunteering . Partnerships have been created between local colleges ; Oneida and Herkimer county BOCES, ARC College works and surrounding area High Schools. The staff is committed to educate and train interns through hands on and observational experience. Following their internship, the students walk away with not only knowledge of Early Childhood Development, state rules and regulations, but a better understanding of their career choice. Some internships have lead to career opportunities at Masonic Child Care making them a part of the Masonic educational team.
Masonic Child care also works with Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, Inc by opening its doors to the Foster Grandparent Program.
This program offers older adults an opportunity to volunteer with children who have special or exceptional needs. They will provide individual attention, educational assistance, physical and emotional support and encouragement to the child. Each relationship will be tailored to meet the needs and abilities of both the child and the volunteer.
Their sharing of love and life skills is a most valuable benefit to both and enables the Foster Grandparent Volunteer to participate productively in their community during their retirement years.
